THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

The toys on this page are in our permanent collection. Occasionally, when a toy has a particularly fascinating history or exceptional energy, we decide to keep it. These toys travel with us to events so that as many people as possible can enjoy them.

Grace

Grace is the Queen of Side-eye

Grace is a fascinating toy. While she looks simple and innocent, she seems to be hiding a lot of secrets! Her skirt appears to have bloodstains on it, instead of legs she has a cardboard tube, and her eyes never look at us! When her previous owner passed away, Grace and several other dolls were placed in a storage box. Years later, when they were taken back out of the box, only Grace had the mysterious stains on her!

Is that BLOOD???

Mr. Creeperton

In early 2019, we had recently come up with the concept of Unsettling Toys, and we were just beginning to form ideas for the business.  I (Sara) was helping a friend to clean out her late mother-in-law’s home, where my friend was also temporarily living at the time.  As we were cleaning out her oldest son’s room, I discovered Creeperton under the bed.  He was horrifying, and I showed him to my friend.  She laughed very hard and said she had absolutely no idea what he was or where he came from.  Upon closer inspection, we found that he was handmade, and had magnets on the back of him.  We decided to throw him away, and I put him into a trash bag.  I kept thinking about him, because he was one of the most unsettling things I had ever seen (what is going on with his teeth!?)  When we were almost done cleaning, I went upstairs to check the bedrooms one last time to make sure they were ready for the moving company.  Creeperton was laying on the stairs.  This made no sense because he was near the bottom of a trash bag that I had taken out myself.  Somehow, however, there he was.  It was too weird to ignore, and I asked my friend if I could keep him.  She said yes, but I insisted that she ask her husband and children where he came from.  Strangely, NOBODY had any idea what Creeperton was, who made him, or why he was under the child’s bed.  Even the children had never seen him before.  I was given enthusiastic permission to keep him, and Creeperton became our official mascot.

Maria

Maria is an old medical dummy.  She was posted for sale online in our client’s neighborhood in Texas, and was available for over a month.  Our client decided to buy her and fix her up into a life-sized doll.  The previous owner was an older woman with paralysis, who used a wheelchair.  She spoke very fondly of the dummy, and when our client was leaving, the lady called out “Bye Maria!”  On the way home, our client got into a car wreck.  After getting Maria home, they tried to do a few alterations to her, but Maria genuinely creeped out our client and their family, which is impressive since they are avid collectors and have many creepy and unsettling things in their home.  After feeling uncomfortable for a while, they decided to send Maria to us.  We love her.
